THE SUNFLOWERS

This saddle-stitched zine is inspired by Mary Oliver’s poem The Sunflowers, using plant life as a metaphor for aging, care, and quiet endurance. Through photographs of objects from my grandparents’ home staged within my own garden, the zine places memory into living soil, exploring how people and plants are tended, valued, and remembered over time. Layering poetry, personal imagery, and garden space, the project reflects on stewardship, attention, and growth. This zine was created for and featured in Weeds, Seeds, and Wonder, a collaborative exhibition exploring the cultural, ecological, and communal relationships between people and plants.
