This kit is a way to package, preserve, and connect with my family history. I believe that my ancestors are connected to me, supporting me in my human experience. Both of my grandparents were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and have since passed away. As I result, I am trying to capture family memories and connect with those who have gone. My kit is inspired by Fluxkits, described as “a briefcase divided into compartments holding a selection of printed materials and small boxes containing other objects” (MoMA). The interactive elements of this kit, which include memory games and puzzles, are a way for me to actively engage with my family history.
